Electric Eden arrived today - should keep me out of mischief for a while...

Following the recommendation from the Vicar of Belbury, I ordered Rob Young's epic Electric Eden which arrived today (currently half-price at Amazon UK). Any book broad enough to take you on a musical journey from Vaughan Williams and George Butterworth to Coil via The Wicker Man and Bagpuss just has to be worth a read!

My CD of Willow Pattern Songs by Hong Kong in the 60s came today. Beautiful, melodic, fragile pop that's a perfect summer soundtrack. If you've not heard any Hong Kong in the 60s before, drop by their Myspace page and have a listen. Then you'll want to buy Willow Pattern Songs (which you may well have to buy on download as it was released a year ago and the limited CD copies are pretty much sold out, although I managed to get my copy from Thee Sheffield Phonographic Corporation) and the more recent digital single Footsteps. And if you're going to be in London on 20 August, you can see them play live at The Drop in Stoke Newington.
